Rad Mobile (1991)
Sega's Rad Mobile, running on the Sega System 32, was a fast-paced first-person racing game with dynamic weather and day/night cycles.
Sega's Rad Mobile was a groundbreaking street racing title and the first game to feature Sonic the Hedgehog (as a decorative element on the dashboard of the car). It ran on Sega System 32 hardware, using a 16 MHz NEC V60 processor. The screen resolution was 320x224 pixels with a palette of 65536 colors. Sound was produced by a Yamaha YM3438 and a Sega PCM chip.
Fun Fact: The game had dynamic weather and required players to turn on their headlights or use their windshield wipers when the weather changed – a novelty for its time.
