NBA JAM
Midway's NBA Jam, programmed in Assembly, was a two-on-two basketball game with exaggerated dunks and the iconic phrase "He's on fire!".
NBA Jam by Midway Games was released in 1993 and was one of the biggest arcade hits in the sports game category. It ran on Midway Y-Unit hardware, which used a TMS34010 processor at 6.25 MHz. The screen resolution was 400x254 pixels with a palette of 32768 colors. For the sound, it used the Williams DCS Sound System for a rich digital audio experience.
Fun Fact: The game's developer, Mark Turmell, revealed that the game had a hidden code that made the Chicago Bulls' shots miss in the final seconds, as he was a Detroit Pistons fan!
